pH Fresh/Saltwater test kit gives milky results

When I use the fresh and Saltwater pH test kit, the vial is turning a milky white, almost as if it were solidifying. What could be causing this?

When I use the fresh and Saltwater pH test kit, the vial is turning a milky white, almost as if it were solidifying. What could be causing this?
In a marine aquarium where there is a high level of magnesium, the reaction involves the pH in the test vial increasing to 10. The result of this is that the magnesium precipitates causing the cloudiness. The precipitates settle and after the indicated 20 minutes waiting time for comparison purposes, the water is clearer with most of the extreme whitishness having settled to the bottom of the vial.
