How long will Phos-X remain active in an aquarium, there is no indication by color change or other identifying change.
The only real way to determine the activity level of the product is to test for phosphate and nitrate level each week.

If the phosphate and/or the nitrate level is increasing, it means that resin is saturated and it is time to change the expired Phos-X and purchase a new replacement.
