Ammonia Tesk Kit in Saltwater
A white precipitate forms when testing ammonia in saltwater?
A white precipitate forms when testing ammonia in saltwater?
It is normal during the test that reagent #1 creates a precipitate in the vial. In order to measure ammonia we have to raise the pH above 12. In this very alkaline condition, magnesium in saltwater precipitates and causes white turbidity.
This phenomenon does not affect the test, if you have ammonia in the water sample you will get appropriate coloration, our color chart has been designed properly.
