Ammonia Remover - Recharge
I remember reading in the packaging that the media may be regenerated every 2 weeks. In your website, however, it says replace every month. Which is which? If the former, how much and how long?

Although it is possible to recharge Ammonia Remover to some extent using a brine solution to force trapped ammonia from the material, it is not overly recommended for a number of reasons. There is a lot of confusion in the literature as to what is the appropriate concentration of salt to use. It is impossible to determine if the recharge has actually worked and the recharging capabilities diminish as the product is recharged over and over, with no clear indication as to how much. In general, the ammonia remover should be left to recharge for at least 24 hours before being thoroughly rinsed to remove the salt from the product. The best definition of brine for this application that I have seen is to add 3/4 cup salt to 1 gallon of water, or 3 tablespoons of salt per quart of water. The salt should be pure as impurities can cause other unknown blockages and unforeseen reactions. Depending on the cost of salt in your area, this may not be as economical an action as seen at first. Coupling the cost of the actual salt with the fact that there is no way to determine how efficient a removal of the ammonia is on a given charge, and the fact that the recharge is less and less effective every recharge cycle, we do not recommend this procedure. When ammonia is evident in the aquarium, you want strong and reliable ammonia removal, and the best way to accomplish this is through the use of new material whenever the media requires change.
