AquaClear lid rises up
My aqua clear model 50 filter lid lifts
My aqua clear model 50 filter lid lifts
The design of the AquaClear units force water from the bottom of the filter chamber through up to three layers of filter material before the water can pour back into the aquarium in a waterfall output. The filter chamber incorporates a filter grid that locks on a tab to hold it down and in place in most cases. The side away from the motor is forced against the side of the filter chamber by the pressure of the foam and filter materials in the media area. When the foam becomes too clogged, the force of the water flow will tend to signal that the media is clogged by forcing the media up. When it rises too high, it will force the lid up.
When this occurs, it is a clear indication that it is past time to maintain the unit and replace the filter materials that require replacement and rinsing of more durable media such as the foam. Over time, even the foam will get clogged and begin to break down and must be replaced as well.
