Fluval 404 stops pumping.

My Fluval 404 will stop pumping. But if I reduce the flow to zero, turn flow back on it will pump for about 6 seconds then stop again. I checked for loose pieces of carbon, and I noticed a small bushing that looks like it came from the clear plastic housi

My Fluval 404 will stop pumping. But if I reduce the flow to zero, turn flow back on it will pump for about 6 seconds then stop again. I checked for loose pieces of carbon, and I noticed a small bushing that looks like it came from the clear plastic housi

If the bushing has worn out, then it is likely that the impeller has worn out as well. You can remove the impeller by grasping the plastic propeller and pulling it out. After doing so, look at the hole that runs through the center of it. If it appears oval or enlarged, it should be replaced. The bushing is part of the impeller cover.
