Green-X is an ion exchange resin designed to actively trap negatively charged particles such as phosphate, nitrite and nitrate.

• Green-X is a chemical filtration media and is most effective when placed as the last stage of filtration (where there is the lowest amount of particulate waste in the water).

• Green-X effectively removes the vital elements (phosphate and nitrate) that algae require - effectively starving it of nutrients.

Have you tested your phosphate, nitrite and nitrate? Then you will have a specific idea of your water quality. Green X is a general product. It application covers a larger spectrum. We have new resins that are more specific. Example: Phosphate Remover and Nitrate Remover from Fluval Lab Series. They are so specific that they can remove more phosphate or nitrate that GreenX can.

Take a look at your aquarium lighting. Is the aquarium close to direct sunlight? Too much light can cause a lot of algae.

If the aquarium was recently set-up, it is normal that there is some algae growth. In that case, let the tank settle. It’s a normal process.
