Setting a Non-Submersible Heater
I have a Elite Radiant Heater and my pilot light is not coming on. What can I do to fix it?
I have a Elite Radiant Heater and my pilot light is not coming on. What can I do to fix it?
The twist setting for the Non-Submersible Elite Heaters is much more adjustable than the Submersible-Factory Sealed heaters.
The adjustment knob is removable and resettable to a more useful temperature band when required.
Take the knob off - I had a bit of trouble removing the knob by hand, so used a small flathead screwdriver, slipped the blade beneath the knob edges and gently twisted the blade to raise the knob up. Once the knob is off, you will notice that there is a stop on the unit to prevent the knob from being overturned. You would need to twist the smaller screw head knob in the center until the heater does turn on, and the pilot light lights if the water is too cold and possibly get the proper heater setting for the aquarium set. Once it is, replace the safety knob to keep water out of the heater tube and to prevent accidental major temperature adjustments. In most cases I prefer to place the safety stop in the center of the heating range so that it can be adjusted up or down without too much trouble if fine settings are required in the future.
