Setting a Thermal Compact heater
How do I adjust an Thermal Compact Submersible heater?
How do I adjust an Thermal Compact Submersible heater?
If the pilot light does not come on when you plug in the heater, you need to turn it up. You will notice at the top of the glass tube, there are positive (+) and negative (-) signs printed in blue. To turn the heater up, squeeze the rubber knob and twist it towards the positive sign (counter-clockwise).
The rubber will only allow you to twist about 1/4 turn. You are actually turning a metal rod that is underneath the rubber knob. Once you have twisted it about 1/4 turn, let go. Continue to repeat this process until you see the pilot light come on. Allow the heater to heat the water to the desired temperature.
If the light goes out before the water reaches the temperature, turn the heater up again until you see the light come back on. Once the water reaches the desired temperature, continue the same process in the opposite direction (towards the negative sign, clockwise) just until you see the light go out. The heater should then regulate off and on as needed to keep the water at this temperature.
