FX5 Filter for Marine Aquariums
Can I use the FX5 Filter in a Marine Aquarium?
Can I use the FX5 Filter in a Marine Aquarium?
There is no reason why you shouldn't use the FX5 for a marine tank.
What you do have to be careful about though, is that you do not get "bubbles" in the tank.
The FX5 is very powerful, and can draw in air from a distance of 4 feet.
So, if the intake of the FX5 is within 4 feet of an air source, it's own output nozzle, a skimmer or air stone for example, it can draw in air. Then it will circulate this air round the canister and blow it out of the output.
This can cause bubbles, and can be worse in denser saltwater.
As long as the tank is large enough, an absolute minimum of 5 feet long, and no other air sources are near to the intake, then you should be OK. Look carefully at your set up before you decide.
