pH stability
My pH is always the same. Why should I continue to test?
My pH is always the same. Why should I continue to test?
Stable pH values within a desired range is what is important. There are many reasons why pH can change so it is strongly recommended to make regular verification a habit. Some examples include:
1) pH values can vary in source water depending on the season.
2) Plants and nitrification both contribute to reducing KH. Carbonate hardness is a major factor in pH stability.
3) If CO2 is being injected.
4) Fish population increases. This will result in more CO2 from the fish and resulting nitrification.
